Download exPressit Label Design Studio from Memorex (link in Resources). The file will download as a compressed ZIP file.

Right-click on the file, and click “Extract all.”

Select a location to unzip the installer. By default, Windows will use the same folder as the ZIP file.

Check the “Show extracted files when complete” box, and Click “Extract.” When the extraction completes, a window should display showing the “exPressit.exe” file.

Double-click the file to open it and follow the steps to accept the end user agreement to install the software. When fully installed, reboot your system.

Launch the program and follow the New CD Label Wizard to select the appropriate label template for the specific label product purchased. The Wizard should launch automatically when you run the program. If it doesn’t, click “File” and “New.”

Click “File” and “Calibrate Printer.” This tool will help you attain the correct print alignment for your label and printer.

Select your printer from the drop-down menu, and select “Default: Automatically Select” from the “Paper Bin” drop-down.

Select your printer’s feed type (left-aligned, in most cases). Don’t worry about the “Offset Page” and “Expand/Shrink” sections yet.

Click “Print Calibration Sheet.” Follow the instructions on the sheet and adjust the offsets or “Expand/Shrink” settings as indicated and print another calibration sheet when finished. You may need to do this several times to get the alignment just right, so be patient.

Click the “OK” button when satisfied with the alignment.

Click “File” and “Print.” Select the number of labels or label sheets you want, and make sure that the correct printer is listed in the “Printer” drop-down menu. The paper source should be “Default: Automatic.”

Tips

  • Even after calibrating your printer, it’s still a good idea to print a single copy of your label onto a regular sheet of paper first just to verify the alignment one last time.
  • If printing from an inkjet printer, allow your labels a few minutes to dry, and longer if the label is graphics-intensive. Otherwise, the labels may smudge.

Warning

  • Do not bulk-print CD labels in a laser printer. Laser printers get extremely hot during use, and if you print 20 or more labels at a time, the label adhesive may melt and damage the printer. If your colleague just finished printing off an 80-page report, allow the unit about 10 minutes to cool down before printing your labels.
