For a long time I have been wanting to get a Mac mini for personal song recording. I have read that 16 GB ram is the ideal minimum ram for studio recording, but the next set of questions are mostly based on opinion. But what is the best setup needed for the mac mini for basic home recording? I am also reading about digital audio interfaces, and see good and bad reviews for each one. Presonus, Focusrite, Tascam, etc. I want to be able to transfer my multitrack analog (16 simultaneous tracks) into the audio interface to the mac mini. I don't know much about GB, Pro Tools, etc, except that PT is difficult to learn. With a Thunderbolt input on the mac and on a D/A workstation output, is it possible to do this?

I am sorry if I posted this in the wrong area. If this belongs elsewhere, please let me know. A big big thanks in advance! I just want to make sure I don't get a mac mini that can't meet the bare minimums. I would be willing to go iMac as long as it didn't have lag/latency issues, most of which are cured with a thunderbolt speed connection.
Thanks,
